New York FW is On the Fence.

An interesting hop-scotch trend emerged in this month's NYFW: one legged ensembles.

Brand Profile: Viktor and Rolf

The most exciting new thing going on with my brand is their show at Paris Fashion week. The Paris shows begin on , 2010. The Viktor and Rolf show is on Saturday, March 6th at 1:30pm at the Espace Ephémère Tuileries. I think this is the biggest type of marketing press that this brand ever attempts to reach for. They are so low key with all of their marketing, and it is slightly difficult for me to answer this week's homework entry because there isn't much activity with this brand's marketing trends & strategies. But, the fashion week show does bring in the fans and the hype!
In recent news, Viktor and Rolf released their newest fragrance, Eau Mega, in 2009. They ran an ad campaign to attract customers to try the new floral, ultra-femme fragrance. There may have been an ad campaign, but there were no commercials, billboards, or oversized posters in metropolitan cities. The fragrance was marketed in a very low key fashion.
In sum, Viktor and Rolf rely mainly on their RTW show in Paris to show their consumers their work. Also, by releasing a new fragrance last year, they are allowing their luxury brand to reach out to different types of consumers. This helps stay up to date with the economy because not even luxury customers want to purchase luxury items at the moment. But, overall, staying up to date with marketing trends doesn't seem to be their main concern. I think that if they desperately needed more business, they could make a marketing advancement to aide their company.

It's The Lottery, Baby

People wonder why I love her so much. See, when you're growing up and have aspirations to wear beautiful costumes and off the wall pieces, you have idols. Your idols wear everything you wish you could, and inspire you more. Then, you find one or two individuals, every few years or every other decade that does it perfectly, that hits your style spot dead on. Gaga does this to me. AND I am SO very jealous of the European tour right now, because she has switched everything up so much and looks great. I loved the performance she gave us here in San Francisco, but damn. Bring it back, girl!

^ Ummmm. Bring it back to the states, Gaga!

London Textiles Woo The Ram

This season, London fashion week hit me hard, with their beautiful, lively textiles. Everything from mish mashed vintage garments, images, and tribal inspirations were displayed last week. And, I'm hoping these designs influence the industry next season. PS: This also leads me to believe the success of McQueen's Plato's Atlantis collection. The textiles inspire forever!

Ram Pride

Lady Gaga represented her inner Aries Ram as she wore enormous horns to 'Zuma' restaurant in London recently. Also had to post this image because of the fantastic expression on the body guard's face.

Milan Pushes Prairie for Fall

Albino's collection was great this season, with strong constructed lines, art nouveau inspired textiles, and prairie looking collars. (Also, an adorable open toed bootie.) Either complete bare legged or completey covered, this collection showed the power of the colors tan, white, and black.
At D&G, the feeling was very much so country and winter inspired. In fact, this collection may have the most winter looking pieces that I've seen any designer present so far. It may be quite questionable with the fur lined boots and winterlite thermal seperates, but it is winter nonetheless. The most interesting part was the mix of textiles, which is something D&G has been into for the past couple of seasons. Also, the ten white, sheer dresses that closed the show was a pattern we've seen this season, as Rodarte presented just about the same thing in New York. D&G and Albino both included black bows that sit right at the top of the chest.
