90s Trend Gets a Modern Spin at Y-3

The bulk of Y-3's S/S 2011 collection involved the silhouette of a bare tummy. Immediately, I reminisced scrunched tube tops and oversized denim of the 90s. Street style and popular culture has been obsessed with the 90s grunge look for at least a season or two, so the skin baring came as no surprise to me.

The part of this silhouette situation that I do respect is the edged twist that Y-3 delivered in this collection. Monochromatic ensembles in all black or red simplified and modernized the looks. Also, the dark lip and corresponding eyeshadow added to the modernization. Honestly, I enjoyed the low slung fit of the repeated pant in this collection, even though it won't look great on the bulk of society!
